Arctic Security, a Finland based cyber security company, helps companies reduce their cyber threats by utilizing a range of free and open source threat feeds. The threat feeds collect and distribute up-to-date information about cyber threats. Companies that use this data get a better visibility to the cyber threats around them and know which issues they need to fix in their network. This way they can remarkably increase the level of their cyber security. The problem is, however, that today only a few companies are doing this extensively and systematically, by using multiple independent sources for their threat intelligence.
Arctic Security software products, Arctic Hub and the upcoming Arctic Node, help here by integrating those free and open source threat feeds that are most commonly used by national cyber security centers and CERTs. The products harmonize the threat data collected from multiple sources and process it to be immediately actionable for the companies. The enterprises get to know exactly which cyber threats they are facing and which issues, such as vulnerable services, they need to fix.
Some of the open source threat feed providers Arctic Security is cooperating with are Abuse.ch, Bambenek Consulting, Brute Force Blocker by Daniel Gerzo, DDOS-Tracker by CISPA, Malware Domain List and Spamhaus CERT feed.
"Cooperation with the open source threat feed providers is essential for our business as without proper threat feeds as an input it would not be possible for our customers to produce high-quality actionable threat intelligence as an outcome for their needs. We are happy that Arctic Hub and Arctic Node help companies leverage the threat feeds into a better visibility on cyber threats around them", says David Chartier, CEO at Arctic Security.

Arctic Security, a Finland based cyber security company, and Rugged Tooling, a company focusing on securing large scale communication networks, announce partnership to create integrated cyber security solutions that help organizations to reduce the time to detect and react to cyber threats.
The new partnership leverages the expertise of both companies. Rugged Tooling provides PreScope SE1 sensor for monitoring internet traffic at company level. The sensor uses the threat information provided by Arctic Security software product called Arctic Node. Whenever the sensor indicates malware URLs or criminal command and control servers in company traffic it sends a signal to Node that can alert the company cyber security officer immediately on the suspicious traffic. This new integrated solution offers companies and other entities an easy-to-use way to organize and utilize their knowledge of cyber threats and thus, increase their level of cyber security.
"Our mission at Arctic Security is to get companies and authorities organized into a defense cell based network that spreads information on cyber threat intelligence in a timely and automated manner. Integrating sensors like PreScope in Arctic Node is the next logical step as now we can not only provide companies with the information on the threats they are facing but also offer them tools to get alerted on malicious internet traffic.", says David Chartier, CEO at Arctic Security.
Petri Ylläsjärvi, CEO of Rugged Tooling added: “Our intelligent PreScope® sensors make detection of threats and related data flows fast and easy. Their wide integration possibilities and adaptive filtering make them a perfect solution for feeding advanced Threat Intelligence platforms, such as the Arctic Node. Our joint offering will enable organizations to detect security risks in their entire network with a very attractive total cost of ownership model.”

Arctic Security and KPMG in Singapore have signed a one- year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with both parties agreeing to collaborate by using Arctic Security’s Arctic Hub Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) platform to train cyber security professionals on cyber threats detection and response in the KPMG cyber war gaming training lab
Under the terms of the MOU, Arctic Security and KPMG in Singapore will collaborate using the Arctic Hub CTI Platform and the facilities at KPMG’s Cyber lab, along with KPMG’s expertise in digital forensics and incident response. This will give trainees an environment to simulate actionable threat intelligence and incidences.
Conducted by the KPMG Business School, the simulations and training will enable cyber security professionals to become better prepared for dealing with cyber incidents while developing a better understanding of the global cyber threat landscape. This will help to improve their organisation’s cyber security posture.
According to data from KPMG’s CEO Outlook 2018, almost half of CEOs polled in Singapore believe that cyber security was their biggest threat to growth over the next three years. They also believed that becoming a victim of cyber-attack is not a question of “if”, but “when”. While half of CEOs polled indicated they were prepared for a future cyber-attack – just 31 percent were confident of identifying a cyber threat.
“Today’s cyber security landscape is evolving at an incredible speed and the requirement for cyber security talent pool is increasing rapidly. Through this collaboration with KPMG in Singapore, we hope to develop and nurture the next generation of cyber security talent, by providing them with appropriate training and knowledge. We look forward to extending customised collaborations with other institutions in Singapore in the near future,” said David Chartier, CEO, Arctic Security.
Eddie Toh, Partner, Cyber security, KPMG in Singapore said, “We welcome this collaboration with Arctic Security. Using real-time data and scenarios for training conducted in our Cyber Lab will lend a sense of realism to the training and benefit professionals who are looking to strengthen their overall enterprise cyber defence strategy.”

Finnish cybersecurity company Arctic Security is launching a next generation product for organizations and authorities who process cyber threat information. The Arctic Hub is a completely new product built on the foundation of its predecessor AbuseSA and can be used to leveling the playing field against adversaries by becoming a hub of cyber threat intelligence. In short, the Arctic Hub collects and disseminates vital threat information that needs to be shared from the ones who know, to the ones that need to know.
The Arctic Hub has been designed with years of experience operating in nation-wide and nation-to-nation information sharing. The Arctic Hub helps to form Defense Cells, a group of actors designed to organize cyber defense for your interest groups for pro-active defense against internal and external cyber threat actors. Arctic Hub supports this mission by enabling automated intelligence sharing between the defenders, which means sharing information on network abuse, vulnerable services and Indicators of Compromise within the cell. In practice, a national CERT/CSIRT team would share intelligence with their stakeholders across the nation, a multinational ISP would work together with their international subsidiaries and an MSSP could do this to help their customers better.
Arctic Security’s R&D Manager Teemu Vaskivuo is looking forward to the future: "I am excited and happy about the product launch. Our R&D team has worked hard to reach this point and for Arctic Security, it is a major milestone. The Arctic Hub is a true next generation threat intelligence platform. We have designed it by using all the knowledge our team has gathered through its close collaboration with national actors over the years. I truly believe we have been able to bring something completely new to the table. Our work in R&D does not end here, as we are on our way building another product, Arctic Node, which will complement our offering for our national customers and their stakeholders in their national Defense Cells. In the future, our model will be applicable in Defense Cells of any size, between organizations and entities in different businesses and roles. I have full confidence in our mission and I look forward for the positive response to our product launch and to the introduction of our Defense Cell concept."
